On December 27, 2024, Starair Aircraft's tethered, high-payload drone system participated in a high-rise building firefighting drill in Hunan Province and successfully completed the continuous spraying of fire extinguishing agents on the exterior wall of a hundred-meter-high building.
This drill took place at the Changsha Wangshan Langham Hotel. Simulating the entire emergency rescue process of a high-rise building fire, the scenario was set as a sudden fire in a high-rise hotel in Changsha. During the rescue, Starair Aircraft's tethered, high-payload drone system coordinated with a large helicopter and a high-pressure fire truck to extinguish the fire in the high-rise building.
After arriving at the scene, Starair Aircraft's tethered, high-payload drone system completed the preliminary firefighting preparations within 4 minutes. The drone automatically ascended from the fire truck's engine compartment to the roof of the fire truck, quickly flew to a high altitude, locked onto the fire source of the high-rise hotel, and accurately sprayed fire extinguishing agents to efficiently extinguish the fire, completing the assigned task.
The joint firefighting drill between Starair Aircraft's tethered, high-payload drone system and the high-pressure fire truck accumulated valuable experience for future multi-force coordinated operations in fire rescue and enhanced our confidence in protecting people's lives and property.
The successful completion of this drill has been highly recognized and praised by the leaders of the Hunan Provincial Fire Rescue Corps. Looking ahead, Starair Aircraft will continue to adhere to its mission and vision of "creating Chinese value for the aviation field", and will continue to strive for independent innovation and the development of high-performance, safe, and cost-effective general aviation products to make greater contributions to the development of the nation's independent general aviation industry.
Starair Aircraft's tethered, high-payload drone system is an innovative rescue equipment developed by He Qinghua's team under the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology's key research and development project. It is designed to meet the urgent needs of rapid response to high-rise building fires and three-dimensional fire extinguishing. This system combines a high-payload drone with a ground fire truck and can continuously perform fire extinguishing agent spraying operations at high altitudes. The first-generation product has a continuous operation capability at an altitude of 150 meters, and the second-generation product has increased the operating altitude to 200 meters, providing a reliable solution for high-altitude fire rescue.
Advantages of this system:
1. High operating altitude: The flight altitude can reach 150/200 meters, which can handle most high-rise building fires and provide a new solution for extinguishing fires on the exterior walls of high-rise buildings.
2. Long endurance: The drone has continuous operation capabilities.
3. Fast response speed: The preparation time from the fire truck arriving at the scene to the start of the aerial firefighting operation is less than 4 minutes.
4. High integration: The drone, ground vehicle, spray system, cable system, and operating system are all integrated into a single ground mobile platform, with a compact structure.
5. Small footprint: The entire vehicle is only 10 meters long, and the drone can take off and land directly from the roof of the vehicle without the need to deploy landing gear, occupying a small area.
6. Strong adaptability: It adopts an integrated tethered composite cable with self-adaptive winding and unwinding functions, eliminating the need for manual laying and collection of water hoses, and can be equipped with different diameter water hoses according to different flight altitudes and flow rates.
7. Multi-functionality: Equipped with a vehicle-mounted fire cannon, it can not only be used for high-altitude firefighting but also as a city's main combat fire truck to achieve ground low-altitude firefighting, serving multiple purposes with one vehicle.
In essence, this technology provides a new and efficient way to combat high-rise building fires, offering a valuable tool for firefighters and enhancing public safety.
